Lust

I've been asked to speak in chapel October the 15th about lust. This is a dangerous thing to talk about to a bunch of guys on the internet... I'm taking nominations for funny stories, songs, or other "hooks" to incorporate.

The punk/thrash band called Lust Control (some of the same guys were also in a band called One Bad Pig) had a fabulous song called "The Big M". Listen to it at this link (copy and paste). This is priceless.

I don't think i've ever lusted more over anything else than a video ipod.

in the same way. how does lust work? is it simply the object of our desire ... or is it also the false expectations and imagination of what that object does? or is that the same thing?

You may want to also listen/or read the lyrics to Cursive's album "The ugly organ" -- The first song is entitled "the ugly organist". 'nough said. Seriously, the album exposes the darker and uglier side of love, while also given expression to an impressive longing for hope and restoration.

I'm at a loss. I run as fast as I can from it. Lust is a male hurdle for sure. Let me know how you fare on the subject.

I have no helpful input other than RUN!

I forgot to mention this. If you are looking for an irreverent philosophical analysis on the lighter side of things, check out Simon Blackburn's "Lust" (Part of the oxford press' attempt to popularize and secularize the discussion of the seven deadly sins)

Have seen Pamela Paul's Pornified: How Pornography Is Transforming Our Lives, Our Relationships, And Our Families?

I haven't read the whole thing, but some of the anecdotal evidence presented is revealing and compelling.
